Lost and broken, a true picture of depression, Celeana must travel to a new land across the sea. All she truly wants to do is stay and avenge the brutal murder of her dear friend Nehemia. That is not in the cards for our heroine though. Instead, she travels to Wendlyn where she must confront her dark past. She must face a truth to her heritage that could change her life and her future forever. Back on her own continent, evil is brewing. Something old and powerful, ready to strike down any who would stand against it. With this ancient power's claws already ensnared in Rifthold, it seeks to take over the world. Celaena must conquer her demons and prepare to fight the evil that is about to be unleashed. Celaena grabs onto her destiny, and burns bright with her refound powers. A force to be reckoned with, capable of shaking the stars themselves. Another excellent read from Sarah J. Maas. Full of intrigue and action, Celaena's character grows in leaps and bounds.   Her body is healed but amnesia still grips her mind as we enter into the second book of the Black Jewels Trilogy. The blood has waited a long time for the dreams made flesh, Witch, the living embodiment of magic. But Jaenelle, the girl that prophecy has chosen, is being tormented by the cruel battles being fought over her because not all the blood wish for her to be their savior. Others would rather use her to gain more power themselves. Many believe her to just be a myth, a child's story they were told growing up, but just that, a story. Only her 3 guardians are there to protect her. To give her time to heal as she battles over her horrifying memories of childhood. Nothing can change her destiny, however, the day when her memories return and her magic are at its full power. When she is finally forced to accept her fate as Witch the dark realms will know what it means to be ruled by Witch. First of all, I highly recommend reading these books in order, starting with the Daughter o

The world had been waiting for a very long time for a queen. A queen to heal that lands and punish those who selfishly ruled for so long. It was prophesized 700 hundred years ago by a black jeweled widow witch in her tangled web that a queen would come. This witch would wield more power than even the High Lord of Hell, and give him major headaches as well! The only thing is, she is young, and if she were to end up in the wrong hands, say a corrupted queen. She could be influenced to spread evil herself.

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

So Celaena did it, she won the king's contest and so became the king's champion, or royal assassin. The King of Adarlan is an evil man and wields his power to intimidate. Scaring his court and his people into compliance. Those who supposedly rebel against him will find Celaena's dagger to their throats. Well, that's what the king believes anyway. Celaena is not as loyal to the crown as she pretends to be. A secret she hides from her closest allies. Trying to keep her secret becomes more deadly however when she comes across a true rebellion against the crown. Will she stomp it out before it becomes a threat? Or join with them to help destroy the dark king of Adarlan and the tyranny he beholds. Are her relationships strong enough to handle the secrets she must keep, or will they crumble apart at her fingertips? She is not the only one keeping secrets it seems, and to keep the secrets of others safe she has to face threat after threat. Will magic keep her and her friends

The book started slow and was a bit confusing the first couple of chapters. I didn't like how they introduced the characters or wasn't even sure who the main characters were going to be, I did finally get into it and am now on book 3!
