House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

Half-human, half-fae party girl Bryce Quinlan loved her life. By day she worked for an antiquities dealer selling mostly illegal magical artifacts. By night she partied with her friends. It all comes to a halt though when a gruesome murder takes place, changing Bryce's life forever.

2 miserable years go by and Bryce now finds herself in a dead-end job and only looks forward to losing herself into oblivion at night just to do it all again the next day. Then to her horror, the murders start taking place again and she finds herself being dragged into the investigation and partnered with a well know fallen angel named Hunt Athalar.

Hunt who is enslaved to the archangels who he once tried to overthrow has one job, kill whomever his boss sees as a threat. His new mission however is to make sure Bryce stays alive during this investigation. If they determine who the killer is before a certain time Hunt will be let free. Bryce, he finds on the other hand is a pain in his rear end. They despise one another but have to learn to work together to solve these murders.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into the city's underbelly for answers they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear. Hunt learns there is more to Bryce than what meets the eye. Will they continue to fight with one another, or maybe a different path will lead them to a different ending.

I loved this book, I actually read this book before any of Sarah J. Maas's other work and it made me look into A Court of Thorns and Roses and the Throne of Glass series. I could not put it down with the unforgettable characters, exciting romance, and page-turning suspense. This book is one that will have you crying if you're the emotional sort.. which I am. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star rating for this book, and I'm excited for the rest of the story!
